Girls, girls, girls

We're having a girl! I'm 23 weeks pregnant and I can't believe how attached I am already to this little gal. I have an enormous amount of respect for those parents can to wait until their baby's birth to find out the sex...I just wasn't one of them. Over the last few weeks, I've become even more thankful that we weren't able to wait. We're getting to know her as a little girl now...and more importantly, as our daughter. We've even named her. She's Mackenzie Hale Campbell. I find myself wondering about her all the time. Is she going to have her dad's nose? Maybe. Will she hate oranges, like me? Probably not. But I still wonder. The questions go on and on. I'm sure any pregnant woman has these thoughts all day long, but it's new to me and I'm enthralled.

Another thing that's been happening is something I'm pretty embarrassed to admit, but this is a blog so why not? We have two girl cats and we've been referring to our daughter as their little sister. This embarrassing on so many levels, so why does it keep coming out of our mouths so naturally? Ugh! Mobert is not going to answer us when we ask if she's excited to meet her baby sister, but that doesn't stop us from asking. We're not even officially parents, yet somehow we've completely mastered nerdy-parent behavior. But on the upside, watching Colin interact with his feline "daughters" has given me some insight into how he will act toward a real daughter. And lemme tell ya, I can't wait to see more!

I'll post some 'bump' pictures soon!

  3. Hmmm, that's funny, I don't think Colin liked it when I called Chuck the dog his little brother. The apple does not fall far from the tree...
